About_
A performance as part of the exhibition performative rooms • parametric towers – artistic positions from architecture studies, University of Applied Sciences Cologne.

Der Mensch is a performative exploration of the human body as both medium and message. At the intersection of individual and collective space, the performance investigates the role of the body in constructing, negotiating, and challenging social norms. Medial spaces function here as communicative platforms, with the performers’ bodies articulating a critical reflection on conformity, identity, and visibility.

Inspired by the provocation that “we have all become grey figures who adapt to the norm in order not to stand out”, the piece poses a central question: Who might we become if we no longer conformed to external expectations or predefined roles?

Through movement, the dancers embody diverse personalities unfolding within and against the constraints of both their personal and shared spatial realities. The body becomes a site of resistance, transformation, and possibility.
